Complete Guide to Registering for the 2024 JAMB Exercise

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the registration process for the 2024/2025 Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) for all interested candidates nationwide. In line with this announcement, JAMB has outlined a comprehensive registration procedure to ensure a smooth experience for all applicants.

During a meeting with media executives in Lagos State, the Registrar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, emphasized the measures put in place to facilitate the registration process. He highlighted that UTME candidates would register first before Direct Entry (DE) candidates, with the sale of DE application documents and E-PIN vending starting on Wednesday, February 28 and closing by Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you navigate through the registration process:

Important Information Before Applying:

1. Difference Between JAMB Direct Entry And JAMB UTME Registration: Understand that the JAMB Direct Entry (DE) form is different from the JAMB UTME form and is designed for candidates seeking admission into the second year of university programs after successful completion of their Nigeria Certificate Of Education - N.C.E in college of Education while JAMB UTNE is for candidates seeking Admission into first year of any degree awarding institution.

2. Registration Venue: Registration can only be done at JAMB offices.

3. Single Application: You cannot apply for both JAMB DE and UTME in the same year.

4. Online Application: The JAMB DE form is filled and submitted online through the JAMB portal.

5. Qualifications: JAMB recognizes and accepts students who have completed their secondary school Education or in their final year.

6. Validity of Statement of Result: Statement of result is accepted for DE registration only within three years of the date of award.

7. Upgrade from UTME to DE: This option is available only to candidates who wish to upgrade from JAMB UTME to JAMB DIRECT ENTRY who must have collected their statement of result or Certificate of completion upon finishing their NCE Programme.

8. Registration Fees: For the 2024/2025 session, the DE fee is N3,500. Additional payments include N700 for CBT Centre registration service charge, N1,500 for CBT Centre service charge for mock/UTME, and N500 for bank charges/commission. Total fees amount to N6,200 for non-MOCK exam candidates and N7,700 for those taking the MOCK exam.

9. National Identification Number (NIN): You must possess a valid National Identification Number.


Payment Methods:

Candidates have several options for payment:

1. Mobile App: Download the "9ja Hot Deal" mobile app, create an account, fund it with your preferred amount, and proceed to purchase your JAMB Pin within a minute.

2. Bank Payment: Use the Profile Code generated with your mobile phone on the JAMB/9ja Hot Deal portal for payment Epin.

3. Online Payment: Use your ATM card or USSD code on the JAMB portal for payment.

4. POS Payment: Pay with POS at any accredited CBT or JAMB office.

Registration Process:

1. Generate JAMB Profile Code: Begin by creating your JAMB profile code. Send your NIN to 55019 or 66019 as a text message in the format: NIN [Your 11-digit NIN]. You will receive a confirmation code. Note that the cell phone number used for sending the NIN will be tied to your application.

2. Receive Confirmation Message: After sending a message to 55019 or 66019, you will receive a confirmation message containing your 10-digit profile code, registered name with NIMC, and the total cost for UTME with or without the mock exam.

3. Log into JAMB Portal or 9ja Hot Deal  mobile App: Use your profile code and proceed in generating JAMB Epin.

3. Obtain JAMB Form With Your Already Generated Epin: Visit any JAMB Center, CBT Centre, or embassy (for candidates abroad) with your profile code/Epin and begin the process.


5. Form Procurement: Present your profile code at designated points of purchase to obtain the form e-PIN, which will be sent to you via text message.

6. Registration at Accredited CBT Centre: Proceed to any JAMB accredited CBT center to complete your registration using the e-PIN.


Retrieving Lost Profile Code or e-PIN:

1. Profile Code Retrieval: Send [RESEND] to 55019 or 66019 from the registered cell phone number to retrieve the profile code.

2. e-PIN Retrieval: If your e-PIN is lost, send [UTMEPIN] or [DEPIN] to 55019 or 66019 for UTME or DE respectively from the registered cell phone number. The e-PIN will be retrieved and delivered to your registered cell phone number.

With your profile code and e-PIN, obtained either through the official channels or via the 9ja Hot Deal mobile app, you can proceed to JAMB offices or accredited centers to register for the 2024 JAMB examination.
